How to Remove Programs from Startup
There is a very useful utility built into Windows XP that will allow you to see and remove programs that load when you start your computer and run in the background. These programs take up resources and can slow your computer down, some are even spy-ware and viruses. Use the following steps 1. Click Start 2. Go to run 3. Type in msconfig 4. a window will pop up, go to the startup tab 5. Now, you can unselect any items you do not want to start with the computer. Be careful not to remove important items such as your anti-virus, however things such as MSN Messenger or a variety of third party programs work just as well being started when you want to use them.
